Why Learn Salsa Privately?
Most people's first salsa experience is a busy class or a social night with a lesson beforehand. Those are fun, but they move at the pace of the room, rotate partners quickly, and rarely fix the thing you personally keep missing: the count, the weight change, or the turn that always arrives late.
A private lesson works the other way around. You learn the basic until it is genuinely comfortable, then add turns one at a time, with correction aimed at you. Many students take private lessons first so that the first social night is enjoyable rather than overwhelming.
Salsa or Bachata First?
Bachata
A side-to-side basic over four beats, with the fourth beat marked by a tap or a small hip motion rather than another step. It's slower and closer, and most beginners find it the easier first step into Latin partner dancing.
Salsa
Six steps across eight beats, with pauses on the fourth and eighth. It's faster and more turn-heavy, and the most common dance at Latin social nights and parties.

What a Beginner Actually Works On
- Hearing the count: finding beat one in Latin music, which is usually the hardest part for new dancers.
- Weight changes: stepping fully onto each foot so the basic stays on time instead of drifting.
- Partner connection: a relaxed hold that lets the lead come through without pushing or pulling.
- First turns: a right turn and a cross-body lead, added only once the basic holds up.
- Styling and confidence: arms, posture, and looking like you are enjoying it, which matters more than the number of patterns.
Who Teaches
Salsa coaching is led by Grigol Kranz, a competitive dancer and instructor who has competed across Europe and the United States. He was Vice-National Master in 10-Dance in Germany, is a 2026 UCWDC World Champion in Advanced Country Line Dancing, and has coached Pro/Am students to USDC National and Vice-National titles in International Latin, Smooth, and Rhythm. Lesson Formats
Individual: 45 minutes
One-to-one salsa or bachata. Solo students learn lead or follow technique, which transfers straight to social dancing.
Couple: 45 minutes
Partners learn together, including shared timing and how the lead is actually communicated.
Small group: 60 minutes
A private session for three or four friends, for example before a party, a trip, or a Latin night out.
